East Fife Tri Club

Training

East Fife Tri Club operates an annual training plan that runs from late September / early October for 12 months, run by our team of club coaches (graded Level 1- 3). The plan focuses on improving club members' performance and abilities by addressing key factors such as functional and technical ability, base aerobic ability, strength and strength endurance, race speed work and skills. The programme is designed to work progressively to allow you to deliver improved performance year on year by focussing on specific elements and progressively putting them together to move you forwards. Whilst the programme operates in generic phases it is always delivered for all abilities and is easily tailored for different goals and race dates. This annual plan is the reason why so many members including total novices, single sport athletes, world age group and elite champions make so much progress.

All our triathlon training session are based in NE Fife, making use of public swimming pools, university and school sports centres, and cycling around the hills of Fife and Kinross, with its stunning scenery.

Monday 20:00 - 21:30 Cupar Sports Centre at Elmwood College, Carslogie Road, Cupar

Coached Session usually comprising warm up, drills, and a main set followed by a cool down. Swimmers train in lanes to allow those of a similar standard to train together.  

Wednesday 20:30 - 22:00 Cupar Sports Centre at Elmwood College, Carslogie Road, Cupar

One lane uncoached to give an opportunity to work on the techniques practiced in the coached sessions and build endurance.

Thursday 21:00 - 22:00 East Sands Leisure Centre, St Mary Street, St Andrews 

One lane uncoached to give an opportunity to work on the techniques practiced in the coached sessions and build endurance.

Improvers' sessions. Book in to a 6 week block when advertised in order to build your skills and endurance - ideal for those who feel they need a bit more practice or confidence before joining the main coached sessions!

 

NB The Cupar Sports Centre will be closed for 3 weeks from 10th July 2017 and so our Monday and Wednesday swims will be affected.  We have arranged for coached sessions in St Andrews on Wednesdays 8-10pm during this period

Bike

Tuesdays - 6.30 for a 6.45 departure with Coach Scott. Meet at Cupar sports centre for fun hill reps!

Sundays - regular group bike rides catering for different levels.  Times and starting points are circulated via email, Facebook and Twitter

Run

Tues 6pm-7pm @ Bell Baxter High School (winter) / Cupar Wetlands (summer). 

Coached session run by Fife Athletics Club to which members of the East Fife Triathlon Club are welcomed. Usually structured a: a warm-up run to a meeting point followed by interval training and a cool-down run back to the school. Runners meet in the school car park before heading out on the warm-up run.

Thurs 6pm-7pm @ University of St Andrews Sports Centre.

Coached session run by Fife Athletics Club structured similarly to Tuesday's session.

Brick Training Sessions

We combine an uncoached group ride with our local Park Run on a Saturday morning!  Meet at Craigtoun Park car park prior to Park Run, cycle as a group aiming to get back to Craigtoun to start the Park Run at 9:30.  We will alter pace, distances and length of the ride to suit ability of the riders.  Meet times arranged and confirmed via Facebook each week.

St Andrews Park Run is a free timed 5km run around the beautiful Craigtoun Park.  For more information or to register click here.
